Karolyn was invaluable in the remodeling of my 40-year-old kitchen. I went to her with a rough idea and she refined it, making wonderful suggestions that I wouldn’t have considered on my own. Karolyn’s help with flooring, countertop, and tile was incredibly helpful. Walking into a design center and facing hundreds of choices is so overwhelming. She took into consideration my entire home and pulled combinations of elements together that would flow well with the rest of the house. I ended up with a kitchen I absolutely love. I now dream of remodeling my bathrooms. If I find I can at some point in the future, I wouldn’t hesitate at all to contact K2 Design Ltd. to do the work.

My husband and I used Karolyn’s design services in the remodel of both our house and cabin on Camano Island. I can recommend her without reservation! The style and finishes she helped us choose were perfect for both places, and the kitchen layouts she designed turned out to be a much better use of space. Our cabin is very old and small, and it took clever designing to come up with new finishes and layouts to fit new appliances and make the space cohesive.  The end result was really outstanding - so much better than what we would have thought of on our own. She recommended several great contractors, and the one we ultimately chose was fabulous.  She was sensitive to our concerns about cost, and recommended items that were within our budget.  I’m convinced that she saved us a considerable amount of money in the process. She didn’t push her style on us, but truly made an effort to understand what we liked and work from there, which I appreciated very much. All that, and she couldn’t be nicer to work with!

I had the lucky opportunity to work with Karolyn twice!  Once to create my dream kitchen, which was included in an entire remodel of the first floor of my house.  Then, when I downsized, I had a blank slate in my apartment and she advised me about the furniture and colors I needed to create a mid-century modern "empty nest." Karolyn is awesome to work with, and very precise.  She develops relationships with the team (clients and contractors) and helps make great decisions. There were times when I was overwhelmed and she talked me off the ledge and helped me make decisions..."the brushed nickel or the shiny nickel"?  Her ability to look at space and visualize was invaluable to me. She always gives multiple options (color, style, price) and keeps the client in mind with each interaction.  I have recommended her to many friends who say "where did you get this idea?" or "Who did this design?" 

Without hesitation, I would highly recommend Karolyn for any kitchen and/or bath design or remodel.  From the very beginning, we knew that Karolyn was the perfect person to transform our outdated and inefficient kitchen to one that was not only gorgeous, but highly functional.  Without Karolyn’s insight into color and design, we would not have been awarded Better Homes and Garden’s “Best Kitchen Remodel” in 1999.  For over 20 years, people would always comment on the gorgeous kitchen.  So, when we made the decision to build a home from scratch, we did not hesitate to contact Karolyn to design our two kitchens and three bathrooms.  Even though we were separated by many miles, Karolyn came through with not only the basic designs but great recommendations for the finishing touches.  We are so pleased with the results and receive many accolades on the final creations.  We would not hesitate to request her services in the future, and highly recommend her to anyone seeking a highly competent, skilled visionary who is also a blessing to work with.

I first contacted K2 Design in Fall of 2019, and I’m so glad I did! Our first project together was a remodel of my condo in Hawaii. The work involved a kitchen remodel, conversion of the den to a third bedroom, new carpet, area rugs, and new furniture throughout the condo. I had purchased the condo fully furnished and was anxious to make changes so that it would feel like my home rather than a rental. Karolyn went with me to Hawaii and in eight days, we had all the materials, appliances, carpet and furniture purchased or ordered, as well as a contractor lined up. The work commenced in January and was completed by the end of February, and the results was gorgeous! Everyone who stays there loves it, and each time I visit, I feel like I am coming home. Our next project was a remodel of the master bath and kitchen at my mountain cabin in 2021. Karolyn designed the master bath cabinetry and layout and directed me to materials that were perfect for the project. Once again, the result was stunning. I love working with Karolyn because she is incredibly talented and creative, listens well, works fast and efficiently, and has a terrific eye for design. She always comes up with ideas I would never think of on my own.

Karolyn designed a new kitchen for us when we remodeled a couple of years ago. She is an extremely talented designer and we are so glad we found her.  She has an excellent sense of aesthetics, space and color; she made the whole process painless.  She also found a very good contractor for us and they did an excellent job. We are so happy with the end result and I would highly recommend her.  She is not only great at what she does, but a lovely person as well!  

We met Karolyn when we were planning our kitchen remodel. She has a great eye for design and color and knew what would work for us; the end result was perfect! She was a pleasure to work with, very professional and personable, and always showed up on time for her scheduled appointments! We recently contacted her about another project, and once again her creativity was apparent when she presented us with several good ideas that we would not have thought of on our own. Karolyn was a true blessing when it came to designing our newly built home.  She was professional and personal, and we highly recommend her.  She assisted with cabinet selections, counter tops, backsplashes, flooring and paint colors. She listened to our desires, and narrowed down our options by visiting showrooms with us or bringing materials to us in person. Once selections were made, she helped us locate reliable contractors to do the install. Karolyn has a way of bringing everything together and has an amazing eye for color. We get compliments on our home all the time. Outside of her professionalism Karolyn is a warm, relatable person and a joy to work with.  Our house is now a home that we love to share with family and friends!

Karolyn is a treasure. My husband and I have worked with her on two homes over the past 15 years. She not only designs beautiful and functional kitchens, but her wealth of experience in the building industry enables her clients to benefit from her wide variety of insight and direction. Karolyn was instrumental in helping us design our custom timber frame home including designing the kitchen, master bath, our 28 foot high stone fireplace, and more. I have known Karolyn as a friend and designer for over 15 years. As a friend, she is kind, supportive, trustworthy, and conscientious. As a designer, she is the same. Recently, I was in a stressful situation, building a small second home on my mother’s property. My mother has dementia, and we were adding this second home so that our family and caregivers could provide assistance. As we were building, I attempted to choose tile, flooring, counters, etc., only to find that I was overwhelmed with the decisions. I called Karolyn in a panic, knowing she had helped me with design projects before. Karolyn came to my rescue, bringing samples of wall colors, tiles, and other materials. She narrowed the scope for me, helping me understand which elements would look best, while allowing my personal style to shine through. Previously, I had made a mistake on the fireplace and Karolyn walked me through the problem-solving process, with an easy and inexpensive fix that made a huge difference. Now, we love our fireplace and cozy little second home. I cannot thank Karolyn enough for assisting me when I was at a loss with this recent project, plus other design decisions in the past. Karolyn’s experience with interior design is fabulous and her calm presence and expert knowledge are a true blessing!
